DROWNING POOL Schedules Washington D.C. Press Conference
September 12, 2007Members of rock band DROWNING POOL and non-profit Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America's Paul Rieckhoff and Todd Bowers will take part in a press conference at the Cannon Terrace, Cannon House Office Building (corner of Independence and New Jersey SE) in Washignton, D.C. on Wednesday, September 19 between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
After returning from playing for troops overseas, DROWNING POOL was compelled to give back to those who serve our country. DROWNING POOL and Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America have launched a campaign called "This Is For the Soldiers", asking Americans to support legislation currently before Congress which addresses the urgent need to get better mental health care for veterans. The campaign includes a web site (www.thisisforthesoldiers.org) which hosts a petition urging Congress to support the Lane Evans Mental Health Care Reform bill. Thousands and thousands have already signed the petition.
Congressman Jim Moran (D – VA),who introduced the Lane Evans Mental Health Care Reform Bill, is official sponsor of this event.
For each ticket sold on the "This is for the Soldiers Tour", DROWNING POOL is donating one dollar to the IAVA and USO (.50¢ going to IAVA and .50¢ going to USO).
DROWNING POOL's new CD, "Full Circle", has sold 29,000 copies in the United States since its early August release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The album was produced by longtime friend Ben Schigel (CHIMAIRA, WALLS OF JERICHO),and features a collaboration track with MÖTLEY CRÜE's Nikki Sixx and BEAUTIFUL CREATURES' DJ Ashba.
